Energy Saving Tips

Worried about high electrical costs? Try out some of these options to save a little of your hard earned money:

  • Keep your furnace properly maintained, and replace the air filter every 2 months to avoid clogging, which will make your furnace run longer and harder.
  • Lower your thermostat by 5 degrees Celsius (9 degrees Fahrenheit) when you are away from the home, and while you are sleeping.
  • Wash with cold water and only do full loads. Over 80% of the energy used for washing clothes is heating the water.
  • Weather stripping on doors and windows, and proper caulking around the frames will stop air from leaking outside.
  • Close the damper on your fireplace when it is not in use to stop air from escaping.
